2020 Me You and The Superbugs event was held online over 2 days during World Antimicrobial Awareness week.

The Me You and The Superbugs speakers from both the UK and Nigeria were engaging, covering topics from antimicrobial surveillance to steps you and I can take to curb the spread of antimicrobial resistant infections in our communities.

The live session provided opportunities to dispel certain myths around antibiotic use including use of antibiotics to 'cleanse' the blood or to control menstrual pain.

Day 1 and 2 Sessions can still be watched on YouTube

There are still so many challenges in Nigeria with regards to antibiotics being readily available over the counter. The need for continued engagement with prescribers and patients remains. Until everyone knows and applies this knowledge of how misuse and overuse of antibiotics promotes drug-resistant infections we still have much work to do. Thank you to all volunteers and speakers who contributed to making the event a reality, and thanks to the audience for attending and asking questions.
