Adeola Bamisaiye
2019 Ile Ife Team Lead

Adeola led the Me You and The Superbugs 2019 team in Ile-Ife Nigeria. An experienced Antibiotic Guardian, she led the team to reach out to different schools in Ile-Ife giving talks on antibiotic resistance at the school assembly mornings.

Bamisaiye Adeola is currently a pharmacist intern at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-ife, Nigeria. She is passionate about Global health, with specific interest in antimicrobial resistance (AMR). She was a member of the only Nigerian team, selected as winners for the Innovate4AMR competition in 2018. Her team also championed a #100daysAwarenessOnAMR on social media. She is a trained science communicator who seeks to utilise her knowledge and skills in raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance. Her interest in AMR has motivated her to take courses including the WHO open course on “antimicrobial stewardship and antimicrobial resistance” and the Wellcome Trust course on “bacteria genomes: disease outbreak and antimicrobial resistance”. She has also worked as a student researcher to generate AMR surveillance data from isolates obtained from Nigeria’s National Reference Laboratory. 
Bamisaiye Adeola is a member of the Global Health Workforce Network (GHWN) youth hub and a member of the External committee at the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation (IPSF). She has served as the Assistant General Secretary for the African Pharmaceutical Symposium (AfPS 2018) in Nigeria, which brought together pharmacy students and professionals from all over Africa. She was invited as a panelist for the Global Health Security conference (GHS 2019) in Sydney, Australia. She has attended a number of conferences including the World Healthcare Students Symposium (WHSS 2017), which held in Kigali, Rwanda. Adeola is a continuous learner, who constantly seeks innovative ways to proffer solutions to healthcare problems.
