On 13th of October, the first awareness event was held in Festac Town Lagos, Nigeria. Attended by several members of the community, from hairdressers to medical doctors. It was fun, people came with their children and friends. The kids had a mini microscope session while the adults attended series of interactive educational talks on antibiotic resistance, hand-washing and how to use antibiotics. Our speakers were exceptional in answering questions posed.

A big thank you to all the volunteers, without whom the event would have been near impossible. Also thank you to the attendees and presenters who participated in this event, and a massive thank you to the 2018 Sponsor - the Royal Society of Biology, UK who awarded an outreach grant as part of 2018 Biology Week to Dr Orode Aniejurengho. This grant served to part fund the event. Also thank you to the management of Shepherd Specialist Hospital who donated the event venue.

We are now getting ready for another public awareness on antibiotic resistance in 2019. Make sure to register by clicking here
